The Llanymynech Rocks

A strange, mysterious place. To this day, local witches hold their secret rituals and celebrate their festivals around an altar amongst these rocks.

Here the Romans worked surface mines. Here thousands of years ago they smelted copper in jars on open fires.

In the middle of it all the Ogo (Welsh for cave).
Cathrall in his "History of Oswestry" tells us this about the Ogo ".. its windings are so numerous and intricate that may years ago labourers attempting to explore its mazes were discovered lying prostrate on the ground despairing of ever again seeing the light of day. Many skeletons with coins dating back to Constantine and Vespasian have been found within the Ogo. One skeleton had a battle axe by his side and a bracelet of glass beads like the druidical rings or beads called "glain neidr".

Can you see any faces in these rocks?

This is an exciting rugged area. You are advised not to explore it after dusk!
